Master's Thesis: “'Synthesis and size dependent properties of multiferroic BiFeO3 nanoparticles' ”
A facile sol-gel technique was adopted to synthesize nearly pure BiFeO3 nanoparticles with unique impurity phase elimination technique utilizing acetic acid instead of conventional nitric acid.
TG, FTIR and XRD analysis were performed to investigate the thermal decomposition behavior of precursor xerogel and the formation of BiFeO3 phase.
Particle size was calculated using Scherrer equation whereas morphology was observed employing FESEM microscopy.
A strong particle size dependent magnetic properties with enhanced saturation magnetization and reduced shape anisotropy is observed for the synthesized BiFeO3 nanoparticles.
Undergraduate Thesis: “Development of Clay Based Water Filter”
The research was aimed towards developing a sustainable and cost-effective water filtration technique to provide potable water to the impoverished rural people of Bangladesh.
A facile slip casting technique with subsequent firing at 1100°C was adopted to utilize ball clay, china clay and diatomaceous earth to fabricate the ceramic candle filter.
Mercury porosimetry and FESEM were performed to investigate the pore shape and size distribution of the ceramic candle filter.
About 99.99% microbial removal efficiency was achieved with effective pore size of ~0.2-0.5 μ.
Other Research Experience:
Synthesis of undoped and doped BiVO4, ZnO, TiO2 and BiFeO3 to investigate their performance in photocatalysis and solar water splitting for H2 generation.
Research experience on high strength ceramics and bioactive glass-ceramics.
Research experience on Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC).
